We are delighted announce the appointment of Dr Chris Hollenbeck as a specialist consultant in fish genomics. Chris is a Research Fellow at the Scottish Oceans Institute at the University of St. Andrews with experience in population genetics and bioinformatics. His research interests involve applying genomics to problems in aquaculture and fisheries. He holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from Texas A&M University.
Chris brings a wealth of experience in the latest genomic techniques and will help ensure Xelect remains at the forefront of marker discovery, GWAS, haplotyping and a great deal more.

New Zealand King Salmon, the producers of the internationally renowned Ōra King breed have chosen Scotland’s Xelect Ltd as their provider of genetic breeding program management for the next 4 years, after an extensive worldwide search.
Xelect has been awarded funding from the Technology Strategy Board as part of its “Technology Inspired Feasibility Studies – Biosciences” scheme to develop “Automated image analysis of muscle phenotypes for genetic marker discovery in Atlantic salmon”. The project commences in August and will run for 4 months”.
